Pool Scouts Gets Ready To Go Nationwide

Pool Scouts is currently in 34 states and counting! If you haven’t been involved in launching a franchise (and chances are you haven’t), the previous statement might not mean much to you. But for those who have been involved in the launch of a new franchise location of an established brand, it is what gets up pumped every day!

Let’s provide some background into the franchise launching process, so that you can be up to speed on efforts that go into launching a new franchise location. That way, you can celebrate with us each time there is a new state added to the ever-growing list.

Launching New Franchise Locations

Launching a franchise requires several significant steps, but one of the biggest is the legal aspect of the process, which includes filing a Franchise Disclosure Document. This is called an “FDD” for those in the biz.

What is a Franchise Disclosure Document you ask?

The formal definition according to Franchising.com is that a franchise disclosure document “requires franchisors to give prospective franchisees material information. This includes background information on the franchisor, the costs of entering into the business, the legal obligations of the franchisor and the franchisee, statistics on franchised and company-owned outlets, and audited financial information. In addition, if franchisors elect to make any financial performance representations, the amended Franchise Rule requires certain disclosures and substantiation for those representations.”
Essentially, the FDD is the most important and significant aspect to launching a franchise. Typically comprised of over 200 hundred pages, the FDD aims at protecting both the franchisor AND the franchisee.

Aspects of the Franchise Disclosure Document include:

…to name a few. Once completed, the document must be sent to each individual state within the U.S. that the franchisor wants to sell franchises in, and then the waiting game begins. There are differing levels of red tape to get through before an FDD can be officially filed in each particular state, but needless to say, it is exciting when you get the word that a state has opened their doors to your brand.

While the local Pool Scouts business here in Virginia Beach is growing every day, we’re beyond excited to bring the Pool Scouts brand to homes across the country. Right now we’re able to do that in 34 states including Indiana (our first official approval…go Hoosiers)Texas, Arizona, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Missouri and many more!
