Pool Scouts’ Commitment to Water Safety

By
May 24, 2022

Did you know that May is Water Safety Month? National Water Safety Month was originally created by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals to raise awareness about water safety and to help everyone have safe, fun experiences in and around the water.

Water Safety awareness is an initiative that Pool Scouts cares deeply about. Not only are we focused on cleaning and maintaining pools, but we always want to provide a safe environment for our customers and their families. We believe it’s essential to spread awareness about the importance of learning how to swim, and Water Safety Month gives us the perfect opportunity to share the news and educate families.

This Water Safety Month, our Pool Scouts franchisees partnered with Hope Floats Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing swim scholarships to underprivileged children who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to learn to swim. For every pool service completed in the month of May, Pool Scouts will donate $1 to the Hope Floats Foundation to provide scholarships to children for swim lessons in our community. We take honor in partnering with Hope Floats and believe their mission can help save lives in our community.

“Our franchisees have always been active in their communities and dedicated to giving back,” said Pool Scouts President Michael Wagner. “Pool Scouts is very focused on the importance of water safety, and we’re incredibly thankful for Hope Floats and the franchisees who have been working so hard on this initiative. Swimming is an essential and joyous life skill that is very important for children to learn, and these donations will help in empowering children and their families with the knowledge and skills to save their own lives.”

THE STARTLING STATISTICS

According to the CDC, drowning is the lead cause of accidental death in the United States for children ages 4 and under. The good news is, participating in swim lessons reduces the risk of drowning by 88%, and that’s where Hope Floats is making a difference. They are partnering with swim schools and businesses across the country to provide swim lesson scholarships.
