Scout Spotlight: Erik Klumpe

April 28, 2022

**Our “Scout Spotlight” blog series introduces you to the people that make Pool Scouts great. We’ll offer you a little insight into a member of our team, their background, and what makes them unique!**

Erik joined Pool Scouts with over 22 years of experience in the franchise industry. Prior to joining Pool Scouts, he was a director of operations for a tax company, where he supported over 150 franchisees operating out of 250 office locations. Erik’s support in developing our systems is perfect for our growing Pool Scouts family.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten has to be snails. They’re surprisingly not bad!

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why? If I could go anywhere, I would go to every MLB Park. I’m a big baseball fan and I think going to all of the MLB Parks would be so cool.

What is one book or podcast you have read/listened to lately that you would recommend? I am a fan of any book written by John Brown.

What are some of your favorite franchising or Pool Scouts memories to date? One of my favorite memories has been running our local ops. The training was by fire but it helped me understand the business.

What is one thing you are excited about for where Pool Scouts is heading? The amount of new franchisees we have is really exciting!

If you were an animal, what would you be and why? A bear because they sleep all winter!

If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would you get? BBQ, for sure!

What’s your go-to productivity trick? When I really need to get some work done, I put in my earbuds and zone in on my work.

What energizes you at work? When franchises tell me their success stories it really makes me feel good about the work we’re doing.

Give me a fun fact about yourself. One fun fact is that my dad was a supervisor of the building of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and I worked with him on it. I quickly learned that this type of outside work was not for me, it is still cool to say I helped build “One of the Seven Engineering Wonders of the Modern World.”

Since joining the Pool Scouts team in 2021, Erik quickly dove into managing our local operations business. Under Erik’s management, the business has done an 180-degree turnaround, growing, generating profits, hiring and retaining great employees, and improving on our NPS number. We’re excited to see Erik’s continued growth and success with Pool Scouts!
